The Trash Can Lid Strap is a tie-down strap used to keep the lid on a metal garbage can. The design intent is that the Trash Can Lid Strap would prevent trash can lids from flying off in high wind, thus saving the user the time it takes to chase down the runaway lid, and the energy it takes to pick up trash strewn about the street.
• The Trash Can Lid Strap would be constructed of adjustable, weatherproof, UV-resistant nylon straps and snap-buckles, forming a single harness in which one horizontal strap buckles around the trash can just below the handles, making a circular collar. • A second strap, double-stitched to the first at right angles, goes up through one handle, over the can lid, and then buckles to a tag strap that comes up through the opposite handle, thereby securing the lid. • When in place, the circular anchoring strap is bisected by the over-the-lid strap. When unbuckled, the hardness takes the shape of an inverted “T.” At the base of the T, where the over-the-lid strap rises through the side handle of the trash can, the harness assembly is held in place by straps that fasten around the handle.
Advantages & Benefits:
• The Trash Can Lid Strap would provide the average householder with a welcomed alternative to running after lids or hunting down scattered trash. • With the Trash Can Lid Strap, there would no longer be a need to worry about the security of any metal lid.
